Emerging reality technologies are promising truly immersive experiences in high resolution, often fantastical simulated spaces.  Jen’s talk will explore the potential for designing experiences that lie beyond the visual.

Biography

Jen Stein is a design researcher examining the implications of emerging technologies by designing for and speculating about near future interactions. Her research and design work explores ambient storytelling, augmented and virtual reality, design fiction, and experience design. Jen is currently Watershed Professor of Design Futures at the University of the West of England and a Resident at the Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol.

Prior to join UWE and the Pervasive Media Studio, Jen was Research Faculty in Media Arts + Practice and Co-Director of the Mobile and Environmental Media Lab at University of Southern California’s, School of Cinematic Arts. She has worked on interactive design projects for Steelcase Workspace Futures, BMW, Intel, and the 2011 Shenzhen and Hong Kong Architectural and Urban Design Biennale.
