Bristol Green Party councillor discusses neighbourhood solutions to local repair and reuse initiatives, including how to help traders deal with food waste.

Biography

Martin Fodor is a specialist in local sustainability and partnership working.

He has worked for a leading UK community recycling enterprise, designing and delivering environmental education, household recycling and reuse services. In the 90s he helped set up the Sustainable City Team in the council, drafted Bristol’s first statutory Recycling Plan, and funded several partnership projects for recycling. In 2008 he created the community learning initiative MakeyourhomeEco, which helps people take control of energy and resources in their homes. On a national level, he has drafted guidance for social enterprises on public procurement and contributed to the Environment Agency policies on climate change and site waste management in the construction industry.

Since 2014 Martin has been an elected Green Party councillor in Bristol. He led the push for a new city council recycling facility to incorporate a reuse centre and has been promoting, through public petition, a citywide ban on disposable, single use plastics.
