Biography

Alina Wernick is a legal scholar working at the intersection between law, technology and innovation. She currently holds a research post at The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) where her work focuses on the social, ethical and legal and questions associated with eHealth technologies. In 2019, Alina along with Thomas Christian Bächle, co-edited The futures of eHealth. Social, ethical and legal challenges.

Alongside her work in eHealth, Alina carries out research on data governance and innovation, with an emphasis on smart cities and automotive industry. Previous research has explored the interdisciplinary perspectives on open innovation and its shortcomings and trade secret protection.

Alina holds a Masters of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Helsinki and PhD from Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich.
