Biography
Heather Morgan is a Research Fellow at the Health Services Research Unit, University of Aberdeen. Heather’s interests lie in the effects of surveillant and monitoring technologies on human behaviours and interactions, especially where they involve notions of compliance, deviance, sousveillance and self-monitoring. Currently her work explores uses of health self-monitoring technologies (smartphone apps, wearable devices) within and beyond health and social care services, and how they are changing our health and health care in theory and practice. Her previous work has looked at self-management of long-term health conditions such as interventions for smoking behaviour in pregnancy and the role of gender in police CCTV operations.
