Roy O’Donnell

Drawing on his practical experience of working in the Drainage department in Dublin City Council, Roy began to create solutions, which have led to novel approaches to retro-fitting Dublin’s Victorian gullies. His presentations focuses on his designs and their impact.

Biography

Roy O’Donnell is the Gully Manager in the Drainage Division in Dublin City Council, a position he has held since 2004 having started in the organisation in 1992.

When Roy O’ Donnell joined Dublin City Council he was following in a family tradition. His father, Harry O’ Donnell, spent forty seven years working for Dublin Corporation as did his grandfather and great  grandfather .

Roy spent a number of years working in the Drainage department and through his experiences in working in the department, he began to understand the problems and started to design solutions for gully holders, extensions and push cam units. He submitted his ideas to the Staff Ideas Scheme within the council and with the support of the The Studio, Dublin City Council, have now submitted patents for his designs.
